Commercial Grease Traps
Grease traps are chambers where grease floats to the water surface and is retained while the clearer water underneath is discharged. There are no moving parts and the design is similar to that of a Septic Tank.
The grease trap is designed to collect grease and oily wastes by flotation and coagulation and to settle solid material as sludge, preventing these materials from discharging into the sewer system and causing blockages.
The effectiveness of a grease trap is dependent on good housekeeping practices and frequent clean-out and maintenance; see "maintenance" for more information.
